Pros:
Friendly family.
Nice security surrounded by military bases.
Good location (walking distance to Sugarloaf mountain and a bus stop at the door for Copacabana, Christo the Redeemer and Jardim Botanique).

Cons:
No English speaking staff.
Need to prepare for local tourist information before you travel as there is not much information in the hostel.
I was the only traveler and the others staying there are mainly students - not much socialising.
Too many mosquito bites - Maybe it's only megetting the reactions but had about 50 bites on my right arm only. Need to prepare if you feel you would have similar reactions to the mozzi bites as I do.
No air-conditioning.

I really recommend this hostel to all people who are looking for cheap and good accomodation. Location is really close to the Copacabana, Sugar Loaf (you can walk there) and shoping center when you find a lot of busses to other part of the city. Hostel is really good and people in the hostel very nice and helpful.

I decided to cancel my reservation at Reisenger Hostel. Initially I could not reach the reception, when I finally did they did not speak English and I could not understand Portuguese. My tour guide assisted me with speaking with reception on the phone and explained I was cancelling and staying in the hotel with the tour group. Reisenger Hostel told him I was meant to cancel at least 7 days prior to my stay, and I cancelled 2 days prior. They wanted to charge me the amount I owed, which was 510 Brazilian Reals. They said they would get back to him the next day and notify if I was to be charged. So far there has been no word back and I assume I am not being charged my full amount.
