We made a reservation for the P.Hotel for two nights. We also arranged for a transfer at the airport at 10.15 pm. We arrived nicely in time at the exit, but there was no transfer waiting for us. A lot of others where picked up and we waited until 11.00 pm. Then we called the hotel. They informed us that the taxidriver was on his way back to the hotel and did not want to turn around. So we informed them that we were taking a regular taxi and that we would be over shortly.
At 12.00 pm we arrived at the hotel very tired, they informed us that we were too late and that the hotel was fully booked now.
After some hassle they called an other Palace hotel and delivered us there. This hotel was very desolate and dirty: not what we opted for. However we decided to stay there the planned two nights
Next morning we went back to the 1st Palace Hotel. The real management now was very friendly: lots of excuses and 5 JOD back for the expensive taxi. We wanted to make a new reservation for our last night in Amman. No problem, good price deal and no time limit to check in.
When we came back after 2 weeks we got a very nice (clean) room.
After our first bad encounter, the Palace Hotel was a nice place after all.

I spent two nights at the Palace Hotel and will not return. My stay was my first night in Jordan, and I found the hotel and rooms dirty and the rooms small. I spoke with one guest who was changing hotels after one night there. I also found the cars and tours the hotel provided overpriced. After 10 days in Jordan, I returned to Aman but changed hotels to the Caravan, which was much brighter, cleaner and the rooms much larger. I think the Palace has gone downhill since being profiled by Lonely Planet.
