San Ramón is a moderate size agriculture town located about 45 minutes from the international airport in San José on the Pan American Highway (Route 1). San Ramón is an ideal starting point for travelers because its location allows for easy access to the pacific beaches, as well as access to the rainforests and mountains of the Arenal region.
Locally San Ramón is known for its central park and Catholic church, one of the biggest in the region. San Ramón is also the commercial hub of the region so there are many shops and restaurants too.
For entertainment, locals tend to frequent the San Ramón Mall located at the entrance to the town, just off the main highway. In addition to the mall, there is a movie theater, a food court, and a bar restaurant with a dance club.
Popular local tourist attractions included: Waterfalls and swimming pools, nature hikes into the cloud forests, birdwatching and coffee tours.
Heading just north from San Ramón one can do zip line canopy tours, whitewater rafting as well bathe in the hot springs at the Arenal volcano. Heading west you will find some of the best beaches in Costa Rica such as Samara, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Hermosa, Montezuma, and Malpais.
