Great budget hotel ... This hotel was perfect for our group of five traveling through Colombia. The rooms were clean and bright, bathrooms down the hall were serviceable with warm water, and the desk staff was incredibly helpful and kind.

Description - Hotel

Hotel Aragon is located in the historical and cultural center of Bogota, in the heart of the traditional neighborhood of La Candelaria. Its privileged location allows travelers to either walk to the main sights of the capital as the Gold Museum, Botero Museum, the Museum of Independence, the Casa Museo Quinta de Bolivar, the Colonial Art Museum, La Casa de la Moneda, the Military Museum, the Santa Clara Church Museum, Plaza de Bolivar, Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo (place where Bogota was founded), Cerro de Monserrate, Luis Angel Arango Library, the Cultural Center Gabriel García Marquez, Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation, among others. Is also very close to major universities such as the Andes University, the Externado, Autonoma, La Gran Colombia, America, La Salle, and the CUN, among others. The hotel is in the center of the dining area C (zona C) of Bogota, distinguished by the wide variety of restaurants. Important local theaters like Teatro La Candelaria and Teatro Colon are very close to the hotel.

Hotel Aragón walls have witnessed many distinguished guests such as Isabel Martínez de Perón (President of Argentina, 1974-76, third wife of Juan Domingo Perón). She lived in this hotel in the fifties, at that time she was a dancer.
And Fidel Castro himself when he was 21 years old came to Bogotá in April 1948 to attend the Latin Americas Congress of youth, and happened to be here just during El Bogotazo, an uprising of people after Jorge Eliécer Gaitán (Presidential candidate was shot in the street). In those days the name of the hotel was "Crillon".
